My Story

Seeking a very special home for Julia! We see acts of cruelty every day towards animals but one of the worst is when humans put animals in a situation in which they can’t help themselves where they’ll slowly die. Julia is one of those unfortunate cats that went through this. Just as the first arctic blast came in, one of the TCC volunteers was on a run on a trail she hadn’t normally frequented when it was discovered that someone duct taped a cat in a box and left her there to die. No food, no water, no blanket, just a box and duct tape to keep it shut in the freezing temps with her in it. That cat was Julia. Julia’s been hanging at the TCC arsenal facility since then and originally struggled a LOT with her behavior (understandably so). She didn’t trust us or anyone, didn’t want to be touched or interacted with much for a while. But she’s really come out of her shell and we believe she is adoptable to the right home. Julia has shown us that she can build trust over time with humans who earn it from her. She is wary of new people, and we haven’t quite figured out why but for some new people she puffs up, for others she runs. But for us who are with her daily, she’s become a really good girl! Just recently, she finally started wanting to play with toys. She used to be afraid of them! She likes a good pet on the head, sometimes you even get a butt lift, and really loves to zoom around!! She isn’t a lap cat but does like to be near her most trusted humans. She thrives on routine. She doesn’t want to be picked up but knows when we shake the treats, to go back to her cubby to get them! She’s smart. To add to her very specific needs, she does not like other cats one bit and we imagine she wouldn’t do well with dogs either. Because of how wary she is, a home without small or young children is a requirement. We know she’s a hard sell, but we’re hoping to find her happy ending! Julia is spayed, UTD on vaccines, FIV/FeLV negative, & will come microchipped! Julia needs a quiet home with a cat savvy adopter willing to work with her! We’d also consider doing a “foster to adopt” to make sure she’s a good fit! Apply to adopt her below & please share her far & wide! https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/HOTC/Cat
