My Story

Cheesey Tango isn’t loud about who he is — but give him five minutes and you’ll realize you’re dealing with a dog who already knows where the exits are and has opinions about how you’re standing. He earned the name Cheesey for his grin, and Tango for the way he moves through life with intention. Friends call him Tango, fans call him perfect. Tango is a 50-pound pit bull born on 8/23/23, and he brings a rare mix of steady confidence and quiet charm into a home. He’s athletic, alert, and energetic — but composed. More “knows where his feet are” than “surprise gymnastics.” He’s the kind of dog who makes everything feel a little more settled just by being there. He moves through the world like a dog who’s paying attention. He notices things. He reads the room. And somehow, without trying very hard, he becomes the dog everyone gravitates toward. Tango is social, friendly, and genuinely enjoys being around people and other dogs. He does well with slow, respectful introductions and prefers appropriate interactions over nonstop chaos. In group settings, he’s calm, polite, and self-controlled — no dramatics, no nonsense. Just a brief side-eye if someone acts out, followed by an immediate refocus like, “Anyway.” He completed a six-week group obedience class and treated it like a performance review. Sit, down, stay, heel, place, leave it — he knows the basics and is very close to mastering them. He’s highly food-motivated, which makes training smooth, engaging, and honestly pretty fun. If snacks are involved, Tango is locked in and ready to impress. He enjoys learning, likes having a job, and takes pride in doing things right — even if that job is simply walking nicely, settling calmly, or reminding you (politely) that it might be time for another treat. At home, Tango is easy to live with. He loves his crate and runs into it on cue like it’s his personal studio apartment. Inside, he settles with a bone, a Kong, or his beloved Chuck-It ball — he always likes having something to chew on while he relaxes. He’s not destructive, respects his space, and understands how to chill when the day slows down. Underneath his composed exterior, Tango is a full-time cuddle enthusiast. He loves being close, touching his people, and settling in like he’s finally exactly where he’s meant to be. It’s quiet, grounding affection — the kind that sneaks up on you and then refuses to leave. Tango walks well on leash, is fully potty trained, crate trained, and adjusts nicely to new environments after a brief “let me take this in” moment. He has a wonderful medium energy level — happy to join you for walks, playtime, or backyard fun, and just as happy to relax and enjoy the simple things. Tango would do best in a home that values structure, consistency, and clear communication. He’s the kind of dog who thrives when expectations are steady and routines make sense — a dog who brings balance, companionship, and a whole lot of joy into everyday life. If you’re looking for a dog with a big smile, a steady presence, and a surprisingly soft side — the kind who makes eye contact before doing things and then settles in like he belongs with you — Tango’s your guy. +++++++ ADOPTION APPLICATION: https://petsave.formstack.com/forms/petsave_adoption_application +++++++ Tango is currently being fostered in Tewksbury, MA and will be transported to the perfect forever home by our rescue! +++++++ The Truth About Rescue: Every rescue pup is a work in progress — and that’s the beauty of it. None of them come wrapped in a bow, ready-made or mistake-free. They come with stories, quirks, and hearts that have seen a lot but still choose to trust again. Adoption isn’t about perfection; it’s about presence. Showing up for them, every day, until they know they’re finally home. That’s when you’ll see them bloom — soft and steady — into the very best version of themselves. And somewhere along the way, you’ll realize they were never the only one being rescued. +++++++ Once we have received your application, we will review and reach out to set-up an interview with one of our volunteers! If you have additional questions, please email us at [email protected]. Note: As with all of our rescues, we recommend homes with children 10 years and over to ensure the best fit for both the pets and families involved.
