My Story

Introducing Cameron, the sweetest golden eyed Velcro purse dog! At a petite 6 lbs, this girl loves to be held and will live right on your lap. She’s about a year old and had a rough start to life, but she loves her person hard and just wants to be loved back in return. She will shower you with kisses frequently. In typical chihuahua fashion, she’s wary of new people, but once she learns they are trustworthy (and with a little treat bribery) she makes new friends with a little patience. Cameron would do best in a home with someone who can give her plenty of time and individual attention. She coexists with other dogs, and finds comfort being near them when her human is away, but she prefers all the human attention to herself like the diva she is! She will maybe allow you to pet another dog if you’re also petting her at the same time! We believe she would be the same way with cats. She will do best in a home where her humans will let her sleep in the bed with them as she demands a life of luxury. Cameron is potty pad trained, and will likely do best with a home with a yard so she can get into an outside potty routine. She needs some work with leash training (and some patience while learning that walking on a leash is NOT in fact a torture method — this girl really loves to be held!) Cameron is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and heartworm negative. She’s ready for her forever snuggle buddy. PLEASE READ BELOW: If you are interested in meeting and/or adopting, the first step is to please visit our website to complete an application and read all of our FAQs: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/adopt **Please do not use the "Introduce Yourself" feature. The information needed to determine if you might be a match for one of our animals can only be found on our application. An inquiry, question, or introduction through Petfinder is NOT an application. All known details about our animals are posted on their profile and updated daily. Other info would be discussed in detail with the foster during the application review process. Due to the number of introductions/questions received (hundreds daily) we ask you submit an application on our website (that application can be used for any dog with Take Paws Rescue). The adoption fee for adult dogs covers age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, spay/neuter if not yet performed, heartworm test & appropriate heartworm treatment by the rescue's vet. All dogs in our care are also kept up-to-date on HW/Flea Prevention. Please see our website for more information. 2022 Adoption Fee Scale for non-benefactor animals: Puppies under 12 months - $350 Dogs over 12 months - $250 *Take Paws Rescue saves dogs from high-kill shelters in Southeast Louisiana, owner surrenders, and discarded dogs with uncertain futures. All of our animals live in foster homes where they are socialized, and well cared for. An application will be required to make sure it’s the perfect match! For additional information, including the adoption process and our adoption fee scale for all our adoptable pets, see our FAQs page: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/faq *Any breed labels used by Take Paws Rescue, its employees/volunteers, or on vet records provided cannot be guaranteed. Breed labels are given based on information obtained during intake and/or best guesses based on appearance and/or temperament of the dogs and Take Paws Rescue gives no assurance to the accuracy of these labels. Labels are necessary for postings to many animal networking sites, such as Pet Finder, and are no way a guarantee. Additionally, exact age and potential size cannot be guaranteed.
