My Story

Name: Sol Age: Estimated 1.5-2 years Sex: Spayed Female (Previously gave birth) Weight: 8 kg (~17.6 lbs) Energy Level: Medium (5/10) Pictures and videos: [https://photos.app.goo.gl/bziSCW6XuLdgBL348] Rescue Story Sol was rescued from an overcrowded high-kill shelter in Hongsung, South Korea. She is currently fostered by a loving family in South Korea, including two adults, a child, and a dog bigger than her. Sol will fly to the US (BOS) on 9/26 if she finds a forever family by then. Approved applicants will have a two-week trial period to ensure the right match and long-term commitment. Personality & Behavior • With Women: Initially cautious, Sol quickly warms up to female adults and seeks out head pats and affection. • With Men: She hesitates around men, but her foster family gradually desensitizes her through repeated gentle exposure. • With Children: Similar to her behavior with adults, she is cautious but can warm up over time. • With Larger Dogs: Sol is wary of bigger dogs and may bark when approached. However, after some initial distance, she has peacefully coexisted with her foster family’s larger dog. • With Smaller or Same-Sized Dogs: Sol is more confident and often approaches smaller or similar-sized dogs to sniff and socialize. • With Cats & Birds: During walks, Sol shows interest in smaller animals, reaching out to cats and chasing birds. Home Life & Training • Alone Time: Sol is comfortable being alone with the foster family's dog from 9 AM to 2 PM. She has shown no signs of separation anxiety. • Barking: Rarely barks; she’s very quiet and composed indoors. • Leash Skills: Sol occasionally pulls on walks, but her foster mom is training her by stopping when she pulls, which has been effective. • Potty Training: Fully potty-trained. • Grooming: Her paws are wiped after each walk, and she cooperates reasonably with the routine. Exercise & Play • Daily Walks: Sol enjoys at least one hour of walking per day. She’s adjusting well to different environments, including elevators and varied paths. • Favorite Activities: She enjoys being petted, especially on her nose and head, and responds well to treats when waiting patiently. Health & Diet • Current Diet: Sol eats salmon-based food and loves chicken jerky treats. • Measurements: Neck - 29 cm, Chest - 47 cm, Back Length - 46 cm. Ideal Home Sol would thrive in a patient and loving household that understands her need for gradual exposure and repetition in new environments. She is progressing greatly in adapting to different surroundings and will continue to grow with consistent care. Sol gets along well with both smaller and larger dogs but may need time to adjust to new family members, especially male adults. A home that provides her with regular walks and affection would be ideal. Adoption Information Sol is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations (except for the Lyme disease vaccine, which is the adopting family’s responsibility). She has been taking monthly preventative medication for fleas, ticks, and heartworms. The adoption fee is $650, including her transportation from South Korea to the US (BOS and other major airports with direct flights).
